Remembering Nick Patel

Back to All Media

“There are special people in our lives who never leave us
. . . even after they are gone.”

We, at Lifescapes International, are saddened to announce the passing of senior principal and project director, Naresh “Nick” Patel, a talented and beloved team member for 20 years.  A graduate of Cal Poly Pomona, he majored in landscape architecture and spent the better part of his career at Lifescapes International.

Nick was much more than a team member; he was a teacher, a committed leader and a precious member of our Lifescapes family. He worked tirelessly with a team of talented designers and artists on projects that exemplified our love of beautiful gardens.  His extensive experience ranged from domestic to international, on projects such as Wynn/Encore Las Vegas, Wynn Palace, The Venetian Las Vegas, Four Seasons Macao and many others.  He was a devoted project director, and when you asked him for anything, you had confidence that it would be done well . . . even when it meant driving all night to a project out of state to oversee completion of a model.

He will be remembered for his commanding leadership skills, passion, and his amazingly compassionate heart.  He loved to teach those around him, and encouraged other team members to learn something new and invaluable. He was focused on getting the best from people and promoted their strengths.  Whatever he chose to do, he was passionate and devoted to it. He gave 100% to his clients . . . his family. . .and his friends.

Two of Nick’s other great loves were racing and golf. He often spoke of his love of cars, and when he wasn’t on the golf course, you could often find him out on the racetrack, with his racing family from Bullet Racing and Strom Motorsports.  A native of Southern California and a devoted son, he is survived by his family whom he loved dearly: parents, Dahyabhai G Patel and Shardaben D Patel; brother, Samir D Patel, as well as a close-knit group of friends.

Those that knew him best would say he had a bit of a “gruff” exterior, but was all heart on the inside.  We will miss his loyalty, sense of humor, smile, intelligence and his commanding presence.  His legacy will live on in our hearts, in those outside the company that he touched and in the exceptional projects he worked on.

Nick Patel  1970- 2017

“When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a manner that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.”
